What is Family Medicine?

Family Practice is a relatively “new” specialty that is different than “General Practice.” Doctors who specialize in Family Medicine put an emphasis on preventative care and taking care of the “whole person.” They also complete a Family Medicine Residency and can be Board Certified in Family Medicine. Family Medicine was actually the first SPECIALTY to require re-certification on a regular basis.
